Is exfoliating really that important??
In our busy world its hard to commit to an additional step in our daily routines. However, some additions could pay off big in the end. We all know we should be practicing a regimen of, at the very least properly cleansing our faces and apply adequate sunscreen. Bonus points for moisturizing. But exfoliate? Is it too much!! Can't I just skip this extra?!?!
Turns out, exfoliation removes dead skin cells clogging the skin and uncovers fresh new cells below. This makes it easier for moisturizing products to penetrate deeply into the skin, making them more effective.
Another benefit is the reduction in the appearance of pore size. Similar to small holes, when there is a build-up of dirt and dead skin, the pore will expand to accommodate for the increase. As a result, your pores appear larger and more visible. Exfoliating removes the dirt in the pores and consequently makes the pore appear smaller.
If you are one of the many people that suffer from acneic skin, exfoliating is an essential way to manage breakouts.
Many of us recognise the importance of cleansing our skin but under-estimate the power of exfoliating. A deep exfoliation will help to un-clog your pores from excess sebum which can be the culprit of a breakouts. Therefore, if the excess sebum and dirt is removed from the root of the cause, the amount of breakouts will most likely reduce.
Exfoliating also plays a big role in diminishing the appearence for fine lines and wrinkles, maintaining "youthful" smooth skin.
When you place makeup over skin cells that have died, makeup will not just miraculously blend into the skin’s surface. It will sit on top. As a result, all fine lines will be magnified. NO ONE wants that! By removing the layer of dead cells, fine lines are less-exaggerated. Ultimately, exfoliating fights aging… or at least it hides it!
